BELLA’S FINDZ

Bella’s Findz, a vintage reseller based in the DMV area, commissioned me to design a logo that would meld together a funky, fun mascot with a playful, retro style inspired by vintage t-shirts.

The Research

With the idea of utilizing a lovable pigeon as the focus of the logo, we agreed that incorporating a vintage tee-inspired visual style into the logo would keep the pigeon anchored to the vintage concept
of Bella’s Findz.

To help brainstorm ideas for the graphic style, I assembled a moodboard for us to look at together with various vintage-inspired logos, along with a few photos of pigeons for reference.

The First
Round of Logos

Keeping in mind the focus on a vintage-inspired look, I revised my original pigeon idea and added some more detailing to the logo, with multiple variants included.

My client suggested having the pigeon wear a crown, so I made sure to include the crown in some variants and some without to explore every visual possibility.

I implemented high-top sneakers and some variants with details like gloved arms and bowties to further bring the vintage style concept into the pigeon graphic, while maintaining its fun personality.

The Color Explorations

Alongside the first round of logos, I began experimenting with limited color sets to let the pigeon shine.

My first color exploration was with a collection of bright, bold colors to match the pigeon’s fun personality, but I also included a more muted set of color palettes to reiterate the vintage element of Bella’s Findz.

The Second
Round of Logos

With my client’s request to utilize a graphic of the pigeon with a bowtie, but with simple wings instead of arms, I narrowed down the logo selection to six updated logos, one for each of the color palettes that spoke to my client most.

I included a main logo to be used in web design, merchandising, and larger formats, along with a rounded profile picture variant for use on the Instagram account for Bella’s Findz.

The Final Logos

The final logo decision included the leftmost color palette, a funky purple color that emphasized the playful aspect of the logo.

My client loved the new logo! The end result was successful in capturing the vintage aspect of the brand, while introducing a bright, playful element to catch the eye.
